Do you wonder how much your child remembers from the trip you took to the children’s museum or aquarium that weekend?

Research says that children remember visits to the museums or aquariums better if they draw and recount their experiences at the same time.

They remembered more facts when they narrated their experience and were drawing at the same time, than when they were given a regular test to gauge what they remembered by the school.

I still remember my visit to the aquarium as a child in Mumbai and being fascinated by the colorful fish.
I had come home and probably recounted my visit to whoever would listen and then spent the rest of the day drawing the fishes in their vivid colors with my treasured sketch pens. And I still remember the visit 20 odd years later!

So next time you know what to do! Give them some papers and some crayons and have them tell you what they saw!
