Yesterday, Aarti wrote an interesting piece

, asking why parents seem to dress their children of the same sex in similar clothes…

Interesting question..the first one that comes to mind is
1. Parents think that’s a cute thing to do
2. Avoid any rivalry between the siblings
3. Easy to identify the kids in a crowd..two of the same kind?
4. Dont have to think what to make one child wear and then the other..both wear the same thing, problem over!
Honestly, I don’t think there is any rationale, but generally I would love to do it…I love it when siblings dress in the same clothes…I find it extremely cute..and anyways the clothes we wear don’t create our personalities..so despite each kid being an individual, I don’t think dressing them in same clothes reflects on the parents thinking their kids are the same..
When I was a kid, I was envious of my cousins who were sister siblings and my mami dressed them in same clothes…My mom never did that to bro and I and I always wanted a sister..
When Cousin K spent 5 years of engineering with us, she and I often would wear the same kind of clothes…with the same dress material, stitched in the same pattern, perhaps of a different colour..so its not only the parents, even sisters sometimes like to dress up like that eh?
I think it’s an extremely cute idea ๐Ÿ™‚

Wearing same clothes is certainly cute, I too like it and trust me I’ve done it with my cousin, even today (we are 32 years old ;)) So yes that’s cute but what we are doing is by our choice ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe that’s what makes it cuter?

With kids they don’t know what’s going on, right? So I guess if the kid big enough to make his/her own choice of clothes then one should let them decide if they want to wear same clothes or no…
