As a former mumbaikar, I love reading picture books on Mumbai. And it is doubly fun when I can read it with my 6 yr old daughter and she identifies places and things in the book because of a trip we made to Mumbai just this Jan.
What is the book about?
Namaste Mumbai takes the readers on a colorful tour of all things Mumbai – from the Taj Mahal hotel, Gateway of India and Elephanta Caves to the “Queen’s Necklace” and Worli-Bandra Sea link with dabbawalas, Bhel puris and Juhu beach in the middle.
Taxis and BEST buses, Ganesh Chathurthi Celebrations and of course, you never know when it will rain!
Food, people, the color and places are captured beautifully with words and illustrations.Nostalgia for Mumbai was mingled with an excitement to share my hometown with my daughter. She, of course, thinks of Mumbai as a city where her grandparents live.
The illustrations are works of art, I fell in love with this the illustration of the Queen’s Necklace
and don’t mind framing the Map of Mumbai up on my wall 🙂
If you are Mumbaikar at heart, never mind where you live, get this book to share and to keep.
