“Let’s celebrate Ramadan and Eid” by Ajanta Chakraborty and Vivek Kumar, is book four of the popular Maya and Neel’s Indian Adventure Series. This book is published by Bollywood Groove.
Like the other books in the series, this book is also educational and diverse. Maya and Neel visit New Delhi in the month of Holy Ramadan to meet their friends Zakir, Farnaz and their families. The kids, learn and share the significance and practices of this festival.
Let’s celebrate Ramadan and Eid
Maya and Neel learn all about Ramadan, Chand Raat, Eid-Al-Fitr, Eid-Al-Adha, Suhoor, and Iftar from their friends.
The kids learn about culture, language, history, and food while having fun with their friends. The last night of Ramadan, known as Chand Raat is all about hitting the shops. In spite of the hefty Chand Raat purchase, Eid is marked by a modest visit to the mosque to ensure equality.
The kids sacrifice their own meal to share with the less fortunate and relish the joy of giving. The Ramadan fast officially ends with a pompous Eid dinner with friends and families and exchange of gifts.
The illustrations in the book were beautiful. They are vivid and colorful. Especially, the smiles and wishes from the local shelter are heart-melting.
