With her passion, she is defying the common misconception that exercising or engaging in sports during pregnancy might be unsafe.

Serena was around eight weeks pregnant when she won seven straight matches against her sister Venus in the women’s final. Her win also included a straight-sets win. This reveals that she possesses flexibility, commitment, determination, adaptability and all such attributes that a true athlete should have.

With physical and hormonal changes, women in their third trimester have a bumpy ride. Serena is battling all difficulties and how! Williams is a role model not merely as an athlete, she is also a model for expectant mothers who question the risks and benefits of taking up sports, yoga, tennis, running or dancing during pregnancy.

Experts say that athletic performance during pregnancy helps the unborn child because various nutrients needed by the baby are extensively produced during such activities. Ease of labor, quick recovery post pregnancy, improved sleep patterns, increased energy and muscle strength are other advantages of being active during pregnancy.

All the Serena Williams’ fans out there wondering as to when will their favorite sports star hit the court. They were both astonished and fascinated to find out from her coach Patrick Mourataglou that they will be soon seeing Serena in the 2018 Australian Open.

It looks like the celebrated tennis player regarded as the ‘World No. 1 tennis player’  won’t let pregnancy hold her back. Instead, she’s embracing and celebrating this change in her life. She wrote this overwhelming letter to her unborn child and shared as an Instagram post earlier this year-

“My Dearest Baby, you gave me the strength I didn’t know I had, you taught me the true meaning of serenity and peace. I can’t wait to meet you. I can’t wait for you to join the player’s box next year.”

For women like her, it holds true that one doesn’t need super powers to be a ‘Superwoman’
